The
Spanish and Hispanic people are noted for being intensely passionate lovers and
being romantic is important to win hearts in the game of love. In this article,
you're going to discover several vibrant romantic Spanish phrases that
will give you an idea of how brilliantly vivid and inventive Spanish can be that
are so simple to sprinkle into your Spanish.
Vale, the first step to love involves finding a partner. ¿Es obvio,
verdad? The Spanish say:
Echarse un/a novio/a - To find oneself a boyfriend/girlfriend.
When you have a new partner, you can decide if your relationship will be: "un
ligue", which is a casual relationship, or "una relación", which is a
more committed type of relationship, which you may hear as: "una historia"
too. Un ligue can also refer to the person you're having un ligue
with - if you see what I mean!

Throughout the Spanish-speaking world, the following Spanish phrase is commonly
used to ask someone on a date:
¿Qué tal si damos una vuelta? - How about we go for a walk/ride?
Such a simple phrase and with any luck, it will win you a new partner so let's
look at how you can woo them further with a few nice romantic Spanish phrases.
Try these:
Amor, mi amor, amor de mi vida, amorcito - Love, my love, love of my
life, little love.
Tesoro, mi tesorito - Treasure, my little treasure.
Mi principe azul/Mi princesea - My Prince charming/My Princess.
Luz de mi vida - Light of my life.
Mi media naranja - My half an orange, i.e. your better half.
All of the above expressions for romantically referring to your sweetheart are
regularly used throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
To finish, let's have a couple of my favorite romantic Spanish phrases called
"piropos" which are pick-up lines. Priopos must number in the
thousand and they include the side-splittingly funny, the erotic, the romantic
and the corny! Here's a humorous Mexican one this writer has used on many
occasions and it always brings a smile - at least!
¡Qué curvas - y yo sin freno! - What curves - and I'm without brakes!
And a piropo for the ladies that I have no doubt will become one of the
most romantic Spanish phrases they'll use often:
Que Dios te guarde mi rey, y que las llaves me las entregue a mí - May
God keep you my King and deliver me the keys.
Then again...!
Have fun with these romantic Spanish phrases and best of all, if you use them
with native-speakers you will win bucket-loads of admiration for sure!
