Following on nicely from the previous article "Working In Spain - 3 Brilliant
Tips" we'll now look at approaching prospective employers. . Having an
up-to-date resumé - Curriculum Vitae - is essential. Again, this will depend on
the type of work you're looking for pero creo que una buena estrategia es
crear dos currículos: una versión breve - no más de dos páginas - that you
can use for finding casual employment and a more fuller version if you're
looking for more formal employment.
The Spanish that follows is very easy and I've not translated it because I
believe you'll work it out without any difficulty at all.
Vale, let's help you make a winning impression by creating a nice
currículo that will be appreciated by employers and help secure you a job -
¡vamos!
Un currículo breve y bueno debe incluir:
Tu foto
Los datos personales - nombre, dirección, edad y nacionalidad
La experiencia laboral/profesional - de forma abreviada
Tu disponibilidad - "Inmediata" preferiblemente
Los idiomas que hables, especialmente castellano
Los datos de contacto. Número de teléfono - y tu móvil - y tu correo
También, vas a necesitar tener uno o dos informes - referees - de
recomendación preparados antes de contestar a una oferta por si acaso te
solicitan referencias.

I often see people looking for work just walk into a bar, introduce themselves,
hand in their currículo and have a cup of coffee for fifteen-twenty
minutes to be available for a further chat if the manager isn't too busy. The
aim of the short currículo is to make a brief introduction of yourself
that doesn't take up too much time for the prospective employer yet provides
enough detail for them to either ask for more details or to secure you an
interview - una entrevista - where you can go into more detail.
Both of these will require you to have a fuller currículo and this will
elaborate on the shorter version so include:
La experiencia laboral/profesional - con mayor detalle, incluyendo la
formación profesional
Los títulos académicos - licenciaturas y otras certificaciones
Las responsabilidades de tu actual empleo o del trabajo más reciente
Cualquier otro tipo de conocimientos o habilidades que creas pertinentes
Los informes - no más que dos
Bueno, it's all pretty straightforward but making a good first impression
is so important. These great tips will help you to find jobs in Spain and other
Spanish speaking countries - as well as adding depth to your Spanish vocabulary!
Nos vemos,
