Learning
how to speak Spanish in an authentic style involves being able to express
yourself with emotion, exactly as Hispanic people do. A part of the Hispanic
lifestyle I really enjoy is seeing how native speakers express themselves with
passion and emotion when they're busily engaged in conversation! Today, you're
going to discover how to bring emotion into your vocabulary with a few key
easy Spanish phrases all about expressing that you're really keen to do
something.
To state
your urges and desires, the Spanish word ganas, which means "desire", is
commonly used. Ganas is a really practical, must-know phrase for your
vocab that'll come in handy for a variety of situations, just combine it with
the verb Tener, to have. Time for a selection of brilliant, easy Spanish
phrases containing ganas you'll be able to play around with and modify to
reflect your own personal tastes.
Tener Ganas + Infinitive - To have a strong desire/To have an urge to do
something
Por ejemplo:
Tenemos ganas de
salir de Madrid - We really want to leave Madrid
Esta película es muy triste, tengo ganas de llorar - This film is so sad I
really feel like crying!
Such easy
Spanish phrases
don't you think? Also, if you're not up for something, ganas can also do
the job:
No
tengo ganas de salir esta noche - I really don't feel like going out tonight
But if you
want to dial-up the emotion with ganas, all you need to do is add a
couple of words, it is so easy:
Tengo unas ganas
locas de besar a María - I'm aching to kiss María
Tengo unas ganas
locas de salir de esta fiesta - I'm dying to leave this party
So simple,
yes? Two little words but they add lots of emotion and color. Very cool, yet
really easy Spanish phrases to have in your vocabulary.
The
Spanish verb ilusionar makes another streetwise addition to your Spanish that
will also help you to express how you feel about things. Caution: Guiri-giveaway!
Ilusionar doesn't translate as illusion!
The
regular meaning for this useful verb is "to build up". But the usage I prefer is
for describing times when you're excited, delighted, very happy, thrilled and
enthusiastic and for these expressions you just use the past perfect form, just
checkout these really easy Spanish phrases:
¡Estoy
ilusionado con este nuevo proyecto! - I'm pleased with this new project!
¡Estás
ilusionado con tu nuevo trabajo! - You're thrilled with your new job!
¡Ella
está ilusionada con su nuevo vestido! - She's very happy with her new dress!
So easy to
do yes?
Do please
have a play with these vibrant, easy Spanish phrases and inject your own unique
personality into them because ganas and ilusionar will each help you to express
your emotions and I'm sure you'll master them with ease. You'll have lots of fun
doing it and it is without doubt one of the best ways to learn to speak Spanish
quickly!
Hasta otra,
